Gladiators Zone - Tightrope

Gladiator and Contender have to pull themselves along a sloping, parallel tightropes, suspended 25 feet in the air, to a platform. Here they dislodge from the tightrope and fall to the platform to push a button which activates a zip-line. They then grab the zip-line and fly down the tightrope towards a target. The winner is the one who hits the target first. On impact, the winner activates a release mechanism on their opponents line, and the loser is send crashing to the safety net below.

Tightrope picked up an injury in its first showing when Wendy Dawes twisted her back after falling. Gladiator Saracen also got his finger caught in the harness wheel making it unable for him to continue on this particular occassion.

Tightrope managed to make appearances in both finals for the two series it appeared (Series 6 and 7) and it also was in an International final (Springbok Challenge, 1997).

A loss in this event would be accompanied by 'Another One Bites The Dust' by Queen.
