INTERVIEW
Q: "Why was the Gladiator name Sky chosen for you?"
Sky: "Originally my name for the show was 'Athena' but no one really liked the name. The show producers just couldn't think of a name they really thought suited me. Then one day we were all travelling on a bus during our American live tour and Gemini (one of our original Gladiators) asked if I had ever had a nick name as a kid and I said sure, everyone called me 'Sky' because of my height, they always had to look up to the sky to talk to me! Mike Adamle told the producers and before the day was over all my uniforms had been changed to 'Sky'."
Q: "If you were asked to become part of the UK Gladiators team, would you have been interested?"
Sky: "I think I can speak for all Gladiators when I say... Gladiators no matter what country they come from are true athletes and athletes love competitive challenges and would accept any offer to continue to compete as a Gladiator. Of course, any of us including myself would have been very interested in doing a series abroad especially in the UK. I'm very sure any of the International Gladiators would have loved to take part in the American version. We Gladiators have a very special bond and we have a great respect for each other and the shows that we have been a part of."
Q: "What is your most memorable moment from your whole Gladiators experience?"
Sky: "In America we also had G2000 a children's version of American Gladiators and on one of the shows my daughter Ashley and I competed against Turbo and his daughter Courtney. That day was a major highlight for me as a Gladiator and a mother."
Q: "What were your best and worst events?"
Sky: "My best events I would say was the Pyramid and Breakthrough and Conquer. It wasn't my worst event but I just didn't like doing The Rings (Hang Tough) because I was always preoccupied with trying to keep my uniform from sliding up and exposing me while swinging on the rings! On one show my chest was exposed and they didn't catch it in the editing and it aired on TV and everyone saw it! I was very embarrassed and I don't think I ever did as well on the rings again!"
Q: "Was their any rivalry or animosity between the different countries during the International Gladiators series?"
Sky: "None - We all got along very well. Some got along EXTREMELY well! Yes, Some of the UK Gladiators and the American Gladiators got together for some private one on one, but, I'm not telling who... hehehe!"
Q: "Did you dislike anything during the International Gladiators shows?"
Sky: "During International Gladiators I hated Pole-Axe. I even hated to watch the others do it! Scary!"
Q: "Who impressed you most during all of the series of American Gladiators?"
Sky: "Wow that's hard! I would have say the male US contender '2 Scoops' he was a great athlete with a lot of heart and really great attitude!"
Q: "Are you still recognised as Sky?"
Sky: "I am still recognised on a daily basis - I think it has a lot to due with my height it tends to make me stand out quite a bit."
Q: "Who were your best friends from the Gladiators team?"
Sky: "My best friends in the show were Ice, Diamond, Siren and Wolf - although we were just friends!"
Q: "It was reported in the British tabloid press that the female American Gladators slated the UK girls by calling them 'a pack of unsexy women'. Is this true?"
Sky: "That comment was never said in fact, American's would never say 'a pack of unsexy women' it's just not an expression we would use. I happen to think the UK girls are as beautiful if not more beautiful than the US team."
Q: "What are you doing nowadays, do you have a message for all of your fans?"
Sky:
"I'm remarried and live in Orlando, Florida with my husband and two daughters. We own a gym and spend most of our days water-skiing and playing with our eight dogs.
Thank you for all your love and support. Love and laughter always, Sky."
