Hector, Henning Kristensen

INTRODUCTION

Paul from the Gladiators Zone spoke exclusively to Danish Gladiator Hector, Henning Kristensen.

We talked his time with the Gladiators in Denmark and how he made it onto the show...

INTERVIEW

Q: "If the Gladiators show returned, would you play the role of Hector again?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "Yes I would. It was a lot of fun and a different kind of functional training instead of just lifting weights. The role of Hector was being the joker, explosive, the energy bomb and always smiling. It fitted my personality well."

Q: "What were your best and worst times with the Gladiators show? Which Events did you enjoy the most?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "The worst event was when I bursted my tendon in my foot on the first day of training. This meant that I could only participate in the disciplines where fast running was not required.
The best experience I had during the show was just before I had to fight. The nerve and the rush I felt when I had to focus and concentrate on giving the audience the best show ever. What went beyond all that was right after the show where all the kids were waiting for autographs and pictures from their new heroes.
My favourite disciplines were the Suspension Bridge and The Duel, because of the fast and high impact."

Q: "How did you join the Gladiators show?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "I was called up by the organiser of the Danish fitness competitions, who knows me well as a lifetime drug free athlete."

Q: "Why your name was Hector?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "The producer of the programme came up with the name, which they thought fitted my personality and my character well."

Q: "What was your most thrilling moment during your career as Gladiator?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "On the Climbing Wall when I grabbed the challenger by his feet and therefore had to let go of the wall. I was hanging on to his feet by the tip of my fingers. Apparently his grip on the wall was so tight, that I for a short moment thought I was going to lose him."

Q: "What you think was your best attribute as Gladiator?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "I did a lot of fun stuff and stunts. I entered the arena to the sound of Robbie Williams song 'Let Me Entertain You'. Furthermore, I was one of the most muscular Gladiators."

Q: "What do you think of the International Gladiators? Are there any Gladiators in particular that impressed you?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "I am sorry but I have only seen a few International Gladiators. One I remember is the Swedish Gladiator called Plexus (Johan Oldenmark)."

Q: "Do you still train?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "Yes I train approximately 4 to 5 times a week for 1 hour heavy, intensive weightlifting."

Q: "Which fellow Danish Gladiators impressed you most?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "Cobra impressed me because she tough and afraid of nothing. She is the World Champion of Jiu Jitsu."

Q: "If you could face any other person on Duel, who would it be and why?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "Mike Tyson, Bart Simpson or Harry Potter ;-)"

Q: "Finally, what are you doing nowadays and do you have a message to any of your fans?"

Hector Interview

Hector: "I work as a Research and Development Manager in a company that develops, produces and sells equipment for disabled people. I train and still compete in International fitness Competitions. I am a three time national champion and won the Mr. World Fitness 2002 in WFF regi.
At the moment I am working on a book about fitness, motivation and lifestyle.
To my fans I would like to say: 'Be strong, be natural and it is never too late to get in the best shape of your life'."
