Image: Tempest gets into a tangle on Hang Tough.

I really enjoyed this week’s episode of Gladiators, it was fast, furious and involved a good deal of controversy, mainly involving Terry the Carpenter.

Image: Pyramid.

I loved competing at Pursuit and Pyramid, they’re both speed games, so right up my street. My only disappointment was that they didn’t show my interviews after the games, and from peeking at the forum I see that this is something that the viewers want to see more of too. So.. as I write the blog... I am in a fortunate position to give you some insight and tell you what I said...

Image: Enigma tackles the Pursuit course.

After Pursuit I tested out my humour on Becky the ‘Pocket Rocket’ and suggested that she had perhaps mistaken the monkey-bars for sloth-bars. She took the joke well and improved her technique dramatically by the eliminator, where she flew across the bars.

My interview after Pyramid was one of praise for Kathryn. Kathryn kept saying that she was gonna ‘just go for it’ and I really felt that she did just that, despite getting hurt by one of the tackles towards the end of the event. I said “She took some big hits and kept going flat out till the end, which is not an easy task on the Pyramid”. Kathryn was a great contender, very quick and very focused, and as a beauty therapist, she even managed to take care of her appearance whilst competing. Is it true that she altered her hair 10 times during the show?

Image: Warrior gets ready for Hit & Run.

The most entertaining moment of the show for me was the Warrior dance on Hit and Run, I just love him and how he’s such an unpredictable soul. You never know what type of outburst to expect, and it’s not just in the arena, you can always expect some type of reaction when dinner arrives. One evening his favourite dish was delivered to the Gladiator kitchen, Lasagne, I could have sworn the roof nearly came off, he was like a Tazmanian devil who’d had too much Red Bull!

Image: Tornado sqaures up to Terry on Hang Tough.

My Gladiator of the week was Tornado, for his awesome performance and for managing to suppress the storm against all odds. The Terry/Tornado battle certainly spiced things up somewhat. On Hang Tough it was a fast and furious battle, but Tornado was untroubled and made the rings look easy. He is the ‘Master’ after all!!!

Image: Tempers flare between Tornado and Terry.

The Pyramid decision (Tornado DQ’d for tackling in the ‘no tackle zone’) raised some controversy in the Gladiator green room (Goliath was stomping, and the room was shaking). There is no doubt that Tornado broke the rules, but they failed to show that Terry continually attacked Tornado by putting his hands in his face, prior to the gladiator’s altercation. Rules are rules, and should be adhered to by contenders and Gladiators alike. I was surprised that ‘The Master of Disaster’ maintained his composure, especially following the “YOU JUST GOT NAILED” comment. Terry, you are a really great guy, but the Gladiators think you should stick to what your good at, being a carpenter, and keep your nailing confined to your woodwork !!!!!
