Gladiatorerna Returns
May 24, 2011Gladiatorerna (Swedish Gladiators) is making a return to TV screens across Sweden for a new series in 2011. Recording of the new series will take place in June and will air on TV4 in late 2011 or early 2012.
The original Gladiatorerna series ran for 5 series during 2000 - 2004 and made household names of the likes of Plexus, Amber and Elektra. Two of the most popular Gladiators, Zeke and Indra, tragically died in a car accident on the 29th June 2002. They were soon due to be married.
It has been confirmed that original Swedish Gladiators Hero (Roddy Benjaminsson), Amazon (Cecilia Benjaminsson) and Phoenix (Aris Denis-Sanches) will all be returning for the brand new series. Original Gladiators Puma and Attila have also returned to the series but will now have new personas and be known as Stinger (Cajsa Nilsson) and Pansar (Peter Bláha). Gladiatorerna Series 5 2004 Contender Champion returns to the series as a fully fledged Gladiator Baron Samedi (Patrick Lessa).
Amazon and Sting are joined by fellow new Swedish Gladiators Ice (Helene Ahlson), Kitsune (Jenny Adolfsson), Lynx (Lina Eklund), Athena (Magdalena Kowalczyk), Hyper (Jannika Larsson) and Bullet (Christy Bacon), whilst Hero, Phoenix, Baron Samedi and Pansar are joined by Toro (Ako Rahim), Prime (Mikael Hollsten), Tor (Mikael Spreitz) and Wolf (Binais Begović).
Original presenters Agneta Sjödin and Gunde Svan will not be returning for the relaunch. Instead new host Gry Forsell will be presenting the next generation of Gladiatorerna with Niklas Wikegård and Jesper Hussfelt as the new commentators. Lahdo Sharro joins as the new referee.
Duel, Pyramid, Gauntlet, The Wall and Hang Tough have all been confirmed as Events to return to the series (which now includes water like the recent American and UK relaunches) but brand new Events have also been promised for the new series.
