Gladiators burst onto Australian television screens in 1995. It was a success in Australia, peaking at an audience of over 2 million.
The UK Gladiators visited the Australian Arena for a three-part mini International competition known as The Ashes.
As well as the three domestic Australian Gladiators shows and The Ashes, a three-part special series against Russia was also filmed in The Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
The Australians then visited the UK Arena along with four other countries to compete in the International Gladiators series. Female Australian Contender and domestic Series 2 champion, Lourene Bevaart, was a runner-up in the International series. She was then transformed into Gladiator Glacier for the Australian Gladiators 3rd domestic series.
