Gladiators Zone - Ice, Caroline Pearce

Cold, steely, frosty and beautiful.

Ice is an experienced athlete, competing in the heptathlon. She was one of the youngest competitors in the England schools competition in the hurdles when she was 11 and went on to compete for England in the pentathlon at the age of 15. As a senior, Ice competed for Great Britain at the 2004 European Cup and was a member of the British bobsleigh team at the World Championships in 2005. Caroline also achieved a first-class honours degree in sports science and a masters degree in physiology and nutrition from Loughborough University.

What are your memories of the original series of Gladiators?
I watched it religiously and I wanted to be a Gladiator. I remember Jet, Hunter and Wolf and I always wanted to have a go at Hang Tough, The Wall and the Eliminator. It was brilliant entertainment and it was inspirational, it made you want to go out and challenge or compete.

What qualities does a Gladiator need?
You need discipline to be able to train every day, mental strength and confidence. Not to mention speed, power and endurance.

What can the audience expect from Ice?
Someone who's cold and steely, forcused and driven. A true competitor who doesn't want to lose.

Do you have any words of warning for the Contenders?
They'd better watch out because I will freeze them in their steps.

Who or what is your inspiration?
Jet was an inspiration for me when I was watching Gladiators and I grew up admiring Denise Lewis.

Which events are you most looking forward to?
I used to enjoy climbing when I was a kid, so I'm looking forward to trying The Wall.

If you were an animal what would you be?
A cat. I have so many cat-like mannerisms, I'm very feline.
