WHIPLASH

Whiplash

OBJECTIVE

Gladiator and Contender stand inside a 20-foot-diameter circle. Each are holding one end of a 'dogbone'. Using tactical manovers and pure strength, the Contender has to pull the Gladiator out of the circle within the time limit. The Gladiator's objective is to stay firmly inside the circle for the full time limit.

FACTS

The Whiplash ring was originally a red carpet with white border but this was changed in 1996 (Series 5) to a white carpet with a red and blue border with the Gladiator ‘G’ symbol.

Whiplash was made a split event in 1997 (Series 6) and was never shown again in full (men and women taking part in the same show).

In 1998 (Series 7), the 'dogbone' was changed and had the outer covering taken off it.

RULES

If either compeitor lets go of the 'dogbone' results in forfeiting the event.

The Gladiator's whole body must be outside the circle to score a win.

No pushing, jerking, or body contact is allowed.
