SWINGSHOT

Swingshot

OBJECTIVE

Contenders and Gladiators are stood on their own platforms evenly spaced apart, with Gladiators on one side and Contenders on the other.

On the whistle the Contenders must jump from their platform attached by a shock cord. After dismounting they must jump and try and grab coloured balls which are attached to a pole by Velcro in the centre of the playing area. Contenders must then deposit the balls into their scoring bins on top of their platform to register the score.

The Gladiators job is to try and stop the Contender from scoring.

FACTS

In 1992 (Series 1), Contenders were only allowed to pick one ball per swing. This rule was abandoned from 1993 (Series 2) onwards.

A ball would be deemed as 'dead' if the Contender climbed the pole to get it. Also, the ball would not count if it was not placed in the basket on the tower within the time limit.

If a Contender attempted to throw the ball into the basket and missed then they would not earn the score.

RULES

The Gladiators can make any attempts from preventing the Contenders grabbing the balls apart from head shots or kicking.

Contenders or Gladiators may not purposely knock the balls from the pole.

Balls which have touched the arena floor are deemed as ‘dead' and cannot be brought back into play.

SCORING
