BREAKTHROUGH & CONQUER

Breakthrough & Conquer

OBJECTIVE

This event is a two-part challenge. The first part, Breakthrough, is played on a field, 26 feet wide and 20 yards long. A Gladiator stands at a five yard line, while the Contender takes a running start. The object is for the Contender to make it past the Gladiator into the end zone.

In part two, Conquer, a second Gladiator is positioned inside a small circle 14 feet in diameter. The Contender must wrestle the Gladiator outside the circle.

FACTS

Breakthrough & Conquer never made it onto the television series of UK Gladiators. It was only played during the Wembley Live shows in 1993 just before Series 2.

A clip of Breakthrough & Conquer was seen in a Time Out section of one of the official Gladiators videos. Flame is seen taking down a Contender in Breakthrough while Panther grapples with a Contender in Conquer. It is also known that Warrior played in Breakthrough and Conquer and Bullit was also seen in the Conquer ring.

RULES

In Breakthrough, the Contender must run forward on the whistle.

The Gladiator must bring the Contender to the floor for a successful elimination.

In Conquer, a successful score is won if any part of the Gladiators body is pulled from outside the circle, although a Contender may re-enter the circle.
